Red dog buffalo calf

Buffalo (or bison) once thundered across North America’s Great Plains, numbering at least 30 million animals. They were the lifeblood and soul of peoples who survived in a harsh environment. Hunting drove buffalo to the brink of extinction by the late 1800’s. A colorful cast of characters brought buffalo back from the brink. Today, new generations of visionaries are helping buffalo to recover across North America.
